On Friday September 14, 2001 the Seattle Fire Department and Seattle Police
Department erected a willow fence with archways around the International Fountain at the
Seattle Center. People came by the thousands to pay their respects and what was to
be a 3 hour event on Saturday morning evolved into four days, with a closing ceremony at
10:00 am on Tuesday. Here are a few of the images I took between 3 and 6:00 Saturday.
Already the willow fences were completely obscured by the flowers. Beautiful flute music
filled the air and everyone was silent, just sharing being together and reading what
people had written and left with their flowers, balloons, Teddy bears and photos.

The final image is of a cloud which formed above the Flower
Memorial while I was there,
and there's a plane flying across the upper left hand corner.
