We are the approved/licensed AKC Club for Salukis in the Pacific
NW Region - near Seattle, Washington.
Active since the early 1970s, we have been licensed by the AKC since 1977.
In 2011 we held our 35th Saluki Specialty!

UPCOMING - 2012 Saluki Specialty Show News:
We will be hosting the 2012 Saluki Club of America
Western Regional Specialty show on Thursday, August 23, 2012.
This will be followed by two days of our Northern Cascades Saluki Fanciers Specialty
shows,
and then a supported entry, with Sweepstakes, at the Sammamish KC all-breed show.
All four days will have Saluki breeder-judges, at Marymoor Park, Redmond, WA.
Be sure to make plans to join us in late August, 2012 for fun and famous Northwest
Saluki hospitality!
The Superintendent for all shows will be BaRay.

2011 Saluki Specialty Show Report:
Our 2011 Saluki Specialty was held on Saturday, August 27th at the
King County Marymoor Park in Redmond, WA.
We thank our Show Secretary Barbara O'Neill and Show Chairman Helen Brettell for
their excellence.
This was our first show under our new name: Northern Cascades Saluki Fanciers, and
our 35th Specialty!
The regular judge was Kevin Shimel, DVM
The sweepstakes judge was Janis Leikam

We also had our Annual club meeting prior to judging, a fun and
successful auction (and exhibitor hospitality) during the day, and following judging we
had a wonderful luncheon with refreshments and lots of laughter. Thank you to all of the
exhibitors who attended this year's show! And a huge thanks to all of the people who
helped put on a great Specialty!
Additional Activities:
We had a very productive Specialty Show Planning Meeting on
Saturday, February 11, 2012 in Bellevue, Washington at the Keg Restaurant. The report has
been distributed to club members. If anyone else would like the report and/or to help out

We had a great Specialty Show Planning Meeting on Sunday,
December 4, 2011 in Snohomish, Washington. Representatives from the Sammamish KC were
there and a lot of the details for the upcoming Specialty shows were discussed, followed
by a fabulous potluck meal.
We participated in the Responsible Dog Owners Day on
September 17, 2011 at the Bellevue, WA Downtown Park, from 11-2:00, followed by a Club
Meeting in Bellevue.
The Club had a wonderful "Meet the Breeds" event
at the Seattle Kennel Club dog show on March 12, 2011,
and it was a great success. Four lovely Salukis greeted many visitors, more than half
of them young children.
Saluki Club of America public education materials were handed out, plus Saluki photo
fans from the Southern Illinois University (the Saluki is their "mascot").
A Club meeting followed.
