Susan Marie Fegan passed
away on November 20, 2010 in Seattle, WA. She was born April 10, 1943 in Ridgeway, PA. A
resident of Mount Vernon in Skagit County since 1984, Susan pursued her passions of art
and Sighthounds. She originally had Borzoi (Russian Wolfhounds), but eventually
specialized in Ibizan Hounds. Through years of careful breeding Susan established the wire
coated Ibizan Hound in America from rare lines she imported from Ibiza, Spain bringing
this variety from almost non-existence to acceptance and prominence in North America and
Europe.
Susan was an award-winning
artist who specialized in fine art printmaking and painted one of a kind tiles from her
original art work. With degrees in Painting and Zoology from the University of Washington,
and a B.F.A. in printmaking from Cornish Art Institute, Susan made her own stone
lithographs, as well as hand-colored pyrographs and etchings. She also studied in France
on an art student scholarship.
